As we are about a month into Q4 I’m excited to reflect on a Q3 that was filled with meaningful impact and forward movement across our projects. From securing vital funding and advancing community-centered construction projects to expanding our presence beyond California, this quarter has been a testament to what’s possible when vision meets action.

Project Spotlight

JAF Service: Non-Profit Owner’s Rep / Project Management

In partnership with non-profit, Our Genetic Legacy, JAF managed the design and virtual construction process that brought to life the amazing work of the young women of color that participated in the programming of Our Genetic Legacy. The project was designed by Demar Matthews (Off Top Design) and Kevin Sherrod (USC School of Architecture) and constructed in the Metaverse by Osarodion Victory Igbinobaro (Aero AI).

This project is an example of the research that JAF has been conducting over the past year and a half on how to leverage the Metaverse and AI technologies to create community impact through the virtual built environment. Past Speaking Engagement Highlights

In 2022 CEO Josh Foster spoke about JE:DI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion) amongst members of the AIA JE:DI Council, AIA Oregon, NOMA, and NOMA NW. Together, industry professionals spoke about how the BIPOC community in the AEC industry has been placed at a disadvantage. Despite this, panelists discussed how real collaboration, in other words, action, will be the force that will expand JE:DI outreach programs. . .

In 2022, HED and AIA LA hosted a panel where CEO Josh Foster and many other industry professionals discussed licensure within the industry. With this being a widely debated topic, AIA LA promotes licensure while being cognizant that everyone has their unique journey within the industry. Panelists all had different experiences in their professional careers but a lively discussion was sparked. . .

Western US Spotlight

Hawai’i Wildlife Fund- Kealakekua, HI

A nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of wildlife in Hawai’i. Focus is put on protection of native species and habitats as well as environmental education oppurtunities for youth.

Eastern US Spotlight

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts - Boston Massachussets

BBBS is a mentorship matching programs where “Big Brothers/ Sisters” are connected to “Little Brothers/ Sisters”. They meet a few times a month to explore common hobbies and help each other. This fosters mentor relationships in the community.

Mid Western US Spotlight

Chicago Scholars- Chicago, Il

Chicago Scholars help first generation/ low income students through the college admissions process. Beyond helping students find their perfect fit, they also help students with financial aid, networking and finding jobs.

Southern US Spotlight

Florida Literacy Coalition - Maitland, FL

FLC provides literacy programs for adults who are not fluent in English to help them reach professional and social goals.
