JAF 2026 College Summer Intern

JAF is seeking a motivated college student for a paid Summer Internship supporting our community-impact consulting work at the intersection of design, strategy, and the built environment. This is a hands-on role ideal for a student interested in graphic design, outreach, communications, data management, and technology as tools for real-world impact.

  • Interns will gain exposure to real projects with municipalities, developers, designers, and community partners, and will work closely with JAF’s leadership team on meaningful, impact-driven work in the built environment.

    • Creating graphics, layouts, and visual content for outreach, presentations, and reports

    • Supporting community engagement efforts, communications, and event preparation

    • Organizing and managing engagement, workforce, or research data using digital tools

    • Assisting with internal technology systems, forms, databases, and workflows

    • Working on a summer intern research project directly in collaboration with the CEO

    • Currently enrolled in an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree program in architecture, landscape architecture, heritage conservation, urban planning/design, communications, graphic arts, film, entrepreneurship, data management, or other related fields

    • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Canva

    • Demonstrated leadership ability in school, work, and/or community settings

    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines

    • Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills

    • Resourceful, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a collaborative team player

    • Duration: Full-time from June 1, 2026 - August 3, 2026

    • Holidays Observed:

      • Thursday, June 19 (Juneteenth)

      • Friday, July 3 (Independence Day observed)

    • Location: Hybrid (Remote + Long Beach Office)

    • Pay: $20/hour
